Lakshmi Pooja is a Hindu religious ritual dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. It is especially popular during the festival of Diwali, but it can be performed on any Friday (considered auspicious for Lakshmi) or on the full moon night of Sharad Purnima. Here’s a description of the key elements involved in Lakshmi Pooja: Purpose of the Pooja: Wealth and Prosperity: It is believed that performing Lakshmi Pooja brings wealth, material prosperity, and spiritual abundance. Removal of Obstacles: The pooja is also done to seek the removal of obstacles in life and to invoke blessings for happiness, success, and good health. Blessing for New Beginnings: People often perform the pooja when starting new ventures, moving into a new house, or when they want to invite positivity into their lives. Items Needed for Lakshmi Pooja: Lakshmi Idol or Picture: A picture or idol of Goddess Lakshmi is placed in the worship area. Clean and Decorated Space: The pooja is typically performed in a clean, well-lit, and decorated space, with offerings of flowers, fruits, and lights. Panchamrit: A mixture of five sacred ingredients: milk, curd, honey, ghee (clarified butter), and sugar. Flowers and Leaves: White or red flowers, and fresh mango leaves or bilva leaves. Rice (Akshata): Rice grains are used for offering to the deity. Incense Sticks (Agarbatti): To purify the atmosphere and create a fragrant environment. Oil Lamp (Diya): Light is considered a symbol of dispelling darkness (ignorance) and bringing in knowledge and wisdom. Coins: Symbolizing wealth, and some people even place gold or silver coins as offerings. Sweets: Offering sweets like ladoos, pedas, or mithai to the goddess is common. Kalash (Sacred Pot): A pot filled with water, adorned with a coconut, mango leaves, and a betel nut. It symbolizes abundance and fertility.
